In the Third Quarter of 2011 APM Terminals earned revenue of $US1.205 billion, representing an increase of 15% over the same period the year prior. In 2010 APM Terminals’ Global Terminal Network's container
handling volume increased by 7%, (adjusted for discontinued operations) to a throughput of (based on equity share). APM Terminals' global market share in is approximtately 6% of all containerized port traffic. Revenue for 2010 grew to $US4.2 billion while the segment result improved to $US793 million. The results were positively affected by divestment of an ownership interest in Sigma Enterprises Ltd., which owned a share in the Yantian container facility, at a gain
of USD $423 million before tax and negatively affected by impairment losses and provisions made for restructuring of inland activities, and other one-time entries. Excluding these amounts, profit for 2010 was USD $492 million as compared with USD $431 million for 2009, with Cash flow from operating activities USD $845 million Return on capital (ROIC) was 16.0%, up from 10.0% in the preceding year.
APM Terminals remains an industry leader in the areas of Safety and Sustainability, and was awarded the Safety at Sea International (SASI) Award in the category of Management and Operations in 2010, and recorded a reduction of 16.3% in CO2 emissions per crane lift during 2010 compared with 2009.

APM Terminals was established as an independent terminal operating company within the Copenhagen, Denmark-based A.P. Moller-Maersk Group
in 2001. In 2004, APM Terminals moved its headquarters to The Hague, Netherlands. Today the company provides services to more than 60 shipping lines with an integrated Global Port, Terminal and Inland Services Network active in 56 ports, and cargo support services at 132 locations, in 63 countries around the world.
In 2010 APM Terminals reduced output by 16.3% to 11.68 kg (25.7 lb) per TEU. (Of this figure, 9.3% of the decline calculated is the result of direct output reduction, with the remaining 7% reflecting changed reporting principles and reefer electricity exclusions in accordance with established international industry reporting procedures).
APM Terminals’ reporting standards and audits are in compliance with the Greenhouse Gas
Protocol (GHG Protocol), and the Sustainability metrics are aligned with the World Resource Institute (WRI) reporting level C+, with our results submitted annually to the Carbon Disclosure Project
(CDP), with the data independent audited by Det Norske Veritas
(DNV), an independent foundation with the dedicated to safeguarding life, property, and the environment. APM Terminals’ company goal for 2011 is to reduce further total emissions by a further 6%.
Carbon neutral
electricity sources provided 12% of APM Terminals' electrical usage in 2010, up from 4% in 2009. Diesel fuel consumption was reduced by 10,000 tons compared with 2009, while electrical power consumption has declined by 40,000 MWh
. All APM Terminals' New Terminal projects are now designed to reduce environmental impact of operations compared with current standards by 20%. In 2010 APM Terminals implemented a conversion of its worldwide Rubber tyred gantry crane (RTG) fleet from diesel to electric power. The retro‐fitting of the majority of the existing 400 unit APM Terminals RTG fleet will eliminate 70,000 tons of emissions annually. The conversion program which will begin immediately, starting with APM Terminals’ Asia‐ Pacific Region facilities, will take approximately two years to complete.
In 2010 APM Terminals' overall safety metrics Continued to demonstrate significant gains in safety performance. By the standard industry measure of Lost-Time Injury Frequency (LTIF), which is calculated per million of man-hours worked, there was a 25% improvement over the course of the year as the combined Port, Terminal and Inland Services’ LTI rate
dropped from 5.82 in 2009 to 4.35 in 2010. Many more individual facilities reported at least a 100 day LTI-Free performance since the introduction of “Safety Culture” training
in 2008 for all employees.

The new terminal will be able to accommodate vessels as large as 7000 TEU capacity.

. All APM Terminals' New Terminal projects are now designed to reduce environmental impact of operations compared with current standards by 20%. In 2010 APM Terminals implemented a conversion of its worldwide Rubber tyred gantry crane (RTG) fleet from diesel to electric power. The retro‐fitting of the majority of the existing 400 unit APM Terminals RTG fleet will eliminate 70,000 tons of emissions annually. The conversion program which will begin immediately, starting with APM Terminals’ Asia‐ Pacific Region facilities, will take approximately two years to complete.
In 2010 APM Terminals' overall safety metrics Continued to demonstrate significant gains in safety performance. By the standard industry measure of Lost-Time Injury Frequency (LTIF), which is calculated per million of man-hours worked, there was a 25% improvement over the course of the year as the combined Port, Terminal and Inland Services’ LTI rate
dropped from 5.82 in 2009 to 4.35 in 2010. Many more individual facilities reported at least a 100 day LTI-Free performance since the introduction of “Safety Culture” training
