The Empire ships were a series of ships in the service of the British Government. Their names were all prefixed with "Empire". Mostly they were used during World War II

 by the Ministry of War Transport (MoWT), who owned the ships but contracted out their management to various shipping lines. Some ships requisitioned during the Suez Crisis

 were also given the Empire prefix. They were acquired from a number of sources. Many were built for the MoWT, others obtained from the USA, still others were captured or seized from enemy powers.

Empire Tesville was a 975 GRT coastal tanker which was built by Bartram & Sons Ltd, Sunderland. Launched on 21 November 1945 and completed in March 1946. Sold in 1962 to Anglo-Saxon Petroleum Co Ltd and renamed Fusinus. Sold in 1960 to Shell Tankers Ltd. Scrapped in 1964 in Singapore.

Empire Teviot

Empire Teviot was a 5,337 GRT cargo ship which was built by Flensburger Schiffbau- Gesellschaft. Completed in 1937 as Mathias Stinnes for Kohlen-Import und Poseidon Schiffahrt, Köningsberg. Seized in May 1945 at Copenhagen. To MoWT and renamed Empire Teviot. Allocated in 1946 to USSR and renamed Akademik Krilov. Scrapped in 19075 in USSR.
