Georgian Airways is the national

. It is a privately owned airline operating services from Georgia to destinations mainly in Europe
and Western Asia. It is based at the Tbilisi International Airport
.
“According to the decision of heads of Airzena the company added CRJ-200 and CRJ-100 type jets in 2009,” Giorgobiani said.
On May 21, 2011, Airzena received a new Boeing 737-300, with average age of 17 years.
It was revealed in July 2011, that Mikhail Bagdasarov, owner of Armenia
’s national carrier Armavia
, plans to purchase Georgian Airways.
The issue is being considered but there is no final decision yet. He gave appraisal of Georgian air company’s potential stressing it has good reputation.

The management of the air company considers that designation of these mentioned flights will be conducive for tourists to visit Adjara region and this year more foreigners will have a chance to see not only renovated Batumi, but to see a new resort Anaklia two hours journey from Batumi. Statistically, the air company "Airzena" carried 750 tourists by the mentioned flight during only one week.
On 8 July the company launched Tbilisi-Tehran-Batumi service. ITs operates once a week with a crj-200 aircraft.
From 18 July, Batumi - Kharkov - Batumi are operated.
From 19 July, Batumi - Odessa

On 16 October Airzena announced that it would sign a contract with Boeing for B737ng and for B787. It will receive the Boeing B737 in late 2012, and B787 in 2018.

History
The airline was established and started operations in September 1994 as Airzena and started with business and charter flights. Scheduled services were added in 1997. Airzena merged with Air Georgia in November 1999 to form Airzena Georgian Airlines and adopted the current title on 1 October 2004.In 2010 Airzena served 146,938 passengers. Kiev, Tel Aviv and Moscow were the most popular destinations with its customers. “The majority of travellers coming to Georgia nowadays are still from Ukraine , Russia and Israel,” said Nino Giorgobiani, Head of the Airzena PR Department.Airzena owns a Boeing 737-500 equipped with a modern navigation system and comfortable salons.“According to the decision of heads of Airzena the company added CRJ-200 and CRJ-100 type jets in 2009,” Giorgobiani said.
