April

In mid-April, there was a back and forth series of criticisms between Jon Stewart and Fox News.

On 19 Apr 10, the O'Reilly Factor aired a segment featuring Bernie Goldberg responding to criticism from Stewart the previous week to the effect that Goldberg constantly generalized about the political left. Stewart ended the piece with, "I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Go fuck yourself."

Goldberg's response on 19 Apr began with an admission that Stewart was right, the Goldberg had generalized. Goldberg went on to say, however, that Stewart was himself biased in interviews and pandered to his audience rather than deliver truly courageous commentary or reporting.

On 20 Apr, Stewart responded, noting that "fair and balanced" wasn't Comedy Central's tagline and didn't claim to be a news organization. The Stewart piece closed with a gospel choir chorus of, "go fuck yourself."

Goldberg responded on the O'Reilly Factor on 21 April, saying that Stewart's response was legitimate and "in-bounds," but noted that some of Stewart's more radical fans had threatened violence.

Stewart used the gospel choir again on 22 Apr, in response to Comedy Central's censorship of the South Park

On 19 Aug, there was a segment featuring Aasif Mandvi arguing with John Oliver about who was the better religious icon, Mohammed or Jesus. They each wore a each t-shirt to support their respective "team," i.e., Aasif wore a Team Mohammed shirt and John Oliver wore a Team Jesus shirt. (This is probably also a slight joke on the Twilight pop culture phenomenon of Team Edward vs. Team Jacob.)

This team t-shirt idea became a short term recurring theme. On 23 Aug, there was a segment discussing the motives of Fox News in "tracing the money" behind the 9/11 mosque. It featured Wyatt Cenac for Team Evil (saying that Fox did it out of sheer malevolence) and John Oliver for Team Stupid (saying they did it out of sheer stupidity.)

On 24 Aug, it was Wyatt vs. John again, arguing about which insult was worse, the n-word or the r-word.
