Episode 1

Original Airdate: 5 July 2010

Twenty-five girls from all over the U.K arrived to the Elle McPherson "Model Academy" in order to narrow down the top 13 finalists. The girls met two of the new judges, stylist Grace Woodward and model Charley Speed. They then changed into the top model uniforms that were left out for them in a waiting room. The girls ultimately met Elle McPherson, and had their head shot taken for the first time. After that, the semi- finalists tested their abilities on the catwalk as charlie speed gave them tips on how to improve their runway walks. Following their introduction to the catwalk, the girls had one-on-one interviews with the judges. They were particularly impressed with a handful of the girls- most notably Tiffany, Olivia, Amba, and Kristy among others. The judges quickly deliberated, and they eliminated five girls on the spot : Alize, Chloe, Francesca, Suzanne, and Emma (who had been the winner of the public vote). The remaining girls took part in a "St Trinian's" themed photo shoot with photographer Nicky Johnston in the following groups:
Group Title Contestants
Geeks Alisha, Delita, Jennifer, Kirsty, Marie
Preps Amba, Joy, Kadian, Sophie, Susan
Cool Girls Amelia, Harleen, Nicola, Samira, Tiffany

The judges then deliberated over the girls performances and finally decided on their the final 13 girls. After all thirteen girls were called, Elle spoke up. Initially, Alisha had been called out as the last contestant to join the finalists, but Elle then revealed that a spot had been opened in the competition in order to house Susan Loughnane

At elimination, the judges were very pleased with most of the girls performances, but they were not being won over by Delita's lack of presence during panel. Elle said Delita's was good but not powerful, but it did not meet the quality that the judges expected from her. Delita and Hannah ultimately landed in the bottom two, and as Elle was about to reveal the eliminee - Hannah expressed she no longer wanted to remain in the running due to self doubts about her place in the competition. Hannah's decision to quit at panel, automatically saved Delita from being eliminated, and Hannah became the first girl to leave. It was revealed in an interview on hangbag.com that Delita would have been eliminated had Hannah decided to stay in the competition.

The girls had to model expensive jewellery whilst holding a light stick. Nicola excelled, as did Charlotte, Alisha and Tiffany (despite her being distressed from her drastic haircut) Delita had a quiet comeback after being in the bottom two the week before, and the judges were displeased with Olivia's attitude at panel. Harleen and Amelia began to struggle for the first time in the competition, but it was Rachelle and Olivia who landed in the bottom two. Rachelle for not taking direction well and her repetitive facial expressions, and Olivia for failing to taking the competition more seriously. It was finally decided that Olivia possessed more modeling potential, and she was spared over Rachelle, who was asked to leave the competition.

This week's photoshoot involved the girls taking photos for an anti-bullying campaign. Some of the girls shone and produced great photos, including Alisha, Joy and Charlotte. Other girls struggled greatly with the task, those being Amelia, Harleen, Amba and particularly Delita, the last who claimed she struggled with the task and failed to relate to it because she had never been bullied and didn't know what it was like. However, despite another lackluster photo from Delita and Charley's doubting if her time in the competition was up, she progressed to the next week.

Memorable comments on the girls photo this week included:
Charley on Delita's photo: "You look like you're watching a mildly interesting programme on the TV."
Julien on Nicola's photo: "It looks like you're waiting for your long lost love!"

The girls shot a TV ad for Beyoncé's new fragrance for the challenge. Kirsty won the challenge and a night out and chose Nicola and Amelia to join her. Charlotte seemed disappointed by this, but didn't act upon her disappointment. The girls then took part in a photoshoot, covered in chocolate, almost completely nude for a body product shop campaign. Nicola's photo was the favourite of the company director, thus earning her the first call-out. Delita and Tiffany were announced as the bottom two, Delita for producing her only good photograph, but overall the weakest film, and Tiffany for what seemed to be a lack of versatility. Tiffany's previous strong performances spared her and an unsurprised Delita was sent home.
