She was selected as the first finalist after impressing the judges the most at the boot camp themed semi finals, and won a billboard campaign in the U.S. for Christian Audigier for this accomplishment. Simson went onto receive another first call out in the 8th week of the competition for her "stranded with a burning car" photograph, and she won two further challenges. She managed to make it to the final four without being in the bottom two, before surviving over Ashley Brown and Jade McSorley
in consecutive weeks.
On 6 July 2009, Simson was announced as the winner of "Britain's Next Top Model" after being chosen over Sophie Sumner in the final two. She received a contract with top modelling agency Models 1, a cover and six page spread in Company Magazine, and became the face of a Max Factor
cosmetics campaign as her rewards for winning the competition.
Since winning the show, Mecia has appeared on various TV shows and print advertisements, modelling for designers such as VV Brown, Apricot and Asos. She's also modelled in Milan and featured in various magazines including Attitude Magazine and Pushit Magazine. On the runway she has walked in the Look Fashion Show modelling for high street brands such as River Island, H&M, Warehouse and New Look. She also walked in the live final of Britain's Next Top Model Series 6.
She has announced she will be moving to London with 3rd placed contestant Jade McSorley
, both to pursue modelling careers. Mecia is now signed with Nevs Model Management.
