A judicial canton is a group of municipalities in which there is one Justice of the Peace
Justice of the Peace
A justice of the peace is a puisne judicial officer elected or appointed by means of a commission to keep the peace. Depending on the jurisdiction, they might dispense summary justice or merely deal with local administrative applications in common law jurisdictions...

 that has jurisdiction over those municipalities. A judicial arrondissement consists of all judicial cantons on its territory. There are 225 judicial cantons in Belgium

Electoral

An electoral canton is a group of municipalities in which elections are organised by one Canton Principal Office. It doesn't necessarily correspond with a judicial canton. It is the lowest, most detailed level for which election results are available. There are 208 electoral cantons in Belgium.
