Schulenburg supported Gian Antonio Guardi with a monthly salary, 1730-36, and on a commission basis thereafter. Schulenburg did not have children, and, though he willed his collection en bloc to his nephew Reichsgraf Adolf Friedrich von der Schulenburg-Beetzendorf with the stipulation that they be kept together, in a palais in Berlin, his will was not honoured, and after his death his collection was dispersed. A distinguished customer was Frederick II of Prussia
