From this number, ten have been celebrity hosts, two have been SNL alumni hosts, eight have been musical guests, and four have served as musical guest and host. Some of these "Five-Timer" hosts (such as Steve Martin, Christopher Walken, Tom Hanks, and Alec Baldwin) have hosted so many times that special episodes of SNL have been compiled and aired as "Best of ..." episodes. - As of September 2011, Alec Baldwin holds the record for hosting SNL the most frequently, with 16 episodes, beating out Steve Martin, with 15 episodes. However, Martin holds the SNL record for most total guest appearances (22). In 2006, both made a cameo appearance when the other hosted, with Martin, up by one at the time, attempting to kill Baldwin before he could tie his record. When Baldwin hosted for the 15th time in 2010, Martin appeared on a television congratulating him during the monologue, but Baldwin turns and pushes it off the stage. On September 24, 2011, Alec Baldwin finally broke Steve Martin's record for most frequent SNL host with his appearance on the 37th season premiere.
