; a British spy who had used children during an operation in France. However, the official administrator of Cherub was Eileen McAfferty. CHERUB began with a small number of boys which swelled in size as the government realised its worth. After several years of operation it took in a trial group of girls, which proved successful. Thus, girls became a part of Cherub. Since then the cherub campus has grown a significant amount, improving many of its facilities. The dojo was built on behalf of a successful operation that took place in Japan and the new mission preparation building was built by the 'head', of the first 6 novels, Dr Macafferty better known as Mac. The present 'head' is Zara Asker

    Fatalities

Since its formation, CHERUB has had four fatalities. Two boys were killed whilst operating in East Germany in 1954 (fourteen-year-old Johan Urminski and nine-year-old Jason Lennox, causes of death unknown). This resulted in the first version of the 100 day training program and rules to stop kids under ten years old from acting in the field. The third fatality was caused by a mix of snake bite and being given the wrong antivenom, whilst operating in India in 1967 (seventeen-year-old Katherine Field). The fourth died due to a landmine explosion whilst operating in the Falkland Islands in 1982 (fourteen-year-old Thomas Webb).

    T-shirts

Throughout the series there is a ranking system for the experience/skills of members:
    • Orange Shirt - Guest (No other agent can speak to these without clearance from the Chairman/woman)
    • Red Shirt - Unqualified (Have not completed basic training, therefore not allowed on missions)
    • Blue Shirt - Members undergoing basic training
    • Grey Shirt - Qualified for missions
    • Navy Shirt - Outstanding performance in a single mission
    • Black Shirt - Outstanding performances on several missions
    • White Shirt - Retired (Staff)
