Geography

Widnau has an area, , of 4.2 km² (1.6 sq mi). Of this area, 34.2% is used for agricultural purposes, while 2.4% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 59.4% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (4%) is non-productive (rivers or lakes).

It is on the Austrian border and has a border crossing via the Wiesenrainbrücke, a bridge over the Rhine.
