Current Performance

In 2008, ShawCor established new records for all key relevant financial metrics. In 2008, revenue reached $1.38 billion, an increase of 31.6 percent over the $1.05 billion that was achieved during the prior year. At the end of June 2008, ShawCor

 based
Flexpipe Systems manufactures
and sells a proprietary, spoolable,
composite line pipe that is used by
oil and gas producers in applications
which benefit from the
product’s ease and speed of
installation and its pressure and
corrosion resistance capabilities.
At the end of the third quarter of
2008, ShawCor’s twelve-month
order backlog reached a record
level of $528.6 million reflecting
continuing strength in international
large diameter and
offshore project activity and the
inclusion in the backlog of the
recently acquired Flexpipe Systems
business. At the end of the year, the
twelve-month order backlog had
declined due to exceptionally
strong shipments during the fourth
quarter of 2008 but remained at
$455.7 million, comparable with
the level at the end of 2007. This
backlog is expected to support
continued revenue strength
through the first half of 2009.
While it is unclear to what extent
lower oil and gas prices, combined
with a softening of activity levels in
the Company’s non-pipeline related
markets, may impact revenue in the
second half of 2009 and beyond,
bidding activity on major international
pipeline projects in the
fourth quarter was surprisingly
strong and is continuing at a
robust level.
