Many ACE members were professionals with an international focus, and so ACE added “International” to its name in 1946, becoming the Association for Childhood Education International (ACEI).

ACEI delivers its humanitarian mission based on a platform of four core beliefs.
- Uniqueness. Each child possesses a unique set of gifts and talents. Educators and others invested in the education of children should value each child as a unique and special individual.
- Universality. Key principles join our world together through the common bonds of human dignity and respect. All those concerned with the education of children should uphold these universal principles.

An assessment resource is available in nine language and training outreach is conducted.

ACEI’s flagship journal is Childhood Education, first published in 1924. Childhood Education is published 6 times a year. Each issue includes peer-reviewed articles on innovative classroom practices; child growth and development theory; timely and vital issues affecting education, children, and families; international programs; and research reviews. Also included are reviews of new children’s books, videos, software, and professional resources.
The Journal of Research in Childhood Education is a quarterly publication featuring peer-reviewed articles that advance knowledge and theory of the education of children, infancy through early adolescence. Issues provide reports of empirical research, theoretical articles, ethnographic and case studies, participant observation studies, and studies deriving data collected from naturalistic settings. The journal includes cross-cultural studies and those addressing international concerns.
