Voronin made his Premier League debut on 11 August 2007, coming on as a substitute in the 78th minute against Aston Villa. A few days later on 15 August 2007, he scored his first competitive goal for Liverpool in the Champions League qualifier against Toulouse.
Liverpool manager Rafa Benítez was clearly impressed with Voronin, saying:

in the 87th minute. He then scored his next goal in the next league game against Derby County
which Liverpool comfortably won 6–0 to move top of the Premier League table. He also scored the first goal in the 2–2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on 7 October 2007. He carried on his scoring record against Tottenham Hotspur by scoring in a win over the north london club on the last day of the season.
On 25 January 2008, Voronin injured his ankle during training. He underwent surgery and made a small number of appearances at the end of the season but failed to make an impact. This led to rumours that Rafa Benítez would sell him in order to raise funds for the summer 2008 transfer window, however Voronin played some of the summer friendlies scoring a total of 3 goals in the process.
He made his first start of the 2009–10 season in the Champions League group stage game against Lyon
