Cars competed in two engine displacement classes, "up to and including 3000cc" and "3001-6000cc". Drivers of cars in the up to 3000cc class were awarded championship points on a 30-27-24-21-19-17-15-14-13-12-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2 basis for outright positions gained at each round and drivers of cars in the 3001-6000cc class were awarded championship points on a 25-23-20-17-15-13-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis for outright positions gained at each round. Points from the best six round results only could be retained by each driver.
