Suddenly, Victoria who hoped to gain joint custody of her son with J.T., learned that the judge awarded J.T. full custody. Billy ended up convincing a depressed Victoria to hop on a plane to Jamaica with him. After a night of heavy drinking, the two got married. The next morning, they woke up and remembered what happened. Victoria instantly stated that she wanted to get the marriage annulled; Billy preferred to see where things went, but he could not bring himself to say that he loved Victoria. , Victoria and Billy's half-sister, revealed the news of the wedding to many of the residents of Genoa City. Later, however, the audience learned that Victoria and Billy's wedding was not legal. The two continued to see each other and even started officially dating. Victoria quit her job at Newman Enterprises, moved off the ranch and declared her independence from Victor. She and Billy got tattoos featuring each other's names. They ended up buying a 1950's style house from Gloria Abbott Bardwell, and later they learned that Victoria was pregnant. Thus, on September 8, 2010, Billy and Victoria got married, despite Victor's objections. During the wedding ceremony, Victoria was arrested and taken to jail. In an attempt to stop the wedding, Victor turned his own daughter over to the authorities for bribing a foreign official. Victor ended up taking the blame for bribing the foreign official, which got Victoria out of jail so she could be with Billy.

Victoria and Billy were happy expectant parents, but Victor continued to express his disappointment to Victoria about her husband and his use of the Restless Style magazine to publicize Newman family problems. During a particularly heated argument with Victor about an article that Billy had planned, the stress caused Victoria to become ill, and she eventually miscarried from the stress-related illness. Victoria could not forgive her father for causing her miscarriage and, along with her half-sister, Abby Newman

Nikki ended up going to rehab the day of a hearing for the lawsuit, unbeknownst to Victoria.

, were moving to Washington, D.C. and taking Reed with them. Billy suggested that he and Victoria try to get pregnant again. However, Victoria learned that she could no longer have children. Because of Victoria's depression, Billy brought her a newborn baby girl that he adopted for them. In reality, Billy bought the baby girl for $2 million from Primrose Deville from the black market adoption ring that she ran. Victoria could not resist the baby, and after Billy promised her that the baby was really theirs, she welcomed the little girl into her arms. They named the baby Lucy Abbott, because Lucy looked like she was going to have red hair like Lucille Ball and her trademark character from the 1950s and '60s, I Love Lucy; and the fact that they love her.

, began pressuring Daniel not to sign over his parental rights to Billy and Victoria. However, Daniel believed that Billy and Victoria were best for Lucy, and he signed away his parental rights. Billy and Victoria compromised that Phyllis could have all the visitation rights and parenting input that she demanded, and they agreed to her insistence that Lucy had to grow up knowing Daniel was her biological father. Suddenly, the police and Child Services came into the house and demanded information about the adoption of Lucy. Chloe Mitchell filed a custody lawsuit against Billy for their daughter, Delia, and she mentioned how Lucy was illegally adopted. The police and Child Services grabbed Lucy away from a sobbing Victoria. Although Billy was terribly sorry for what happened, Victoria's heartbreak tore him apart and also began to tear apart their marriage. Victoria ended up kicking Billy out for the night. When he came to the door the next day, she took him in her arms and admitted that she was wrong in thinking she would be better off without him.

Aftermath of Custody Battle for Lucy

Eventually, Lucy ended up in the hands of Daniel, and after another paternity test proved the truth, Daniel moved into Billy and Victoria's house with Lucy. An angry Phyllis learned of this news and wrote a column on Restless Style's website. Billy immediately fired Phyllis from his magazine and tried to get her blog removed. Still, he failed; Phyllis even was able to write another story.

, Lucy's uncle, agreed with Billy and Victoria, and Victoria told Billy that she wanted nothing more than to focus on the family that they were building together. They headed to court to have Daisy Carter's maternal rights terminated. They won, but just as the judge reached the decision, Phyllis and Daisy came into the courthouse announcing that Daisy was there to have her parental rights reinstated. After tense legal fights, Daisy's parental rights were reinstated, and thus the adoption was overturned.

With Lucy finally being taken away and little hopes of her returning, Victoria and Billy were both heartbroken. Victoria initially lashed out at Billy for his lies about Lucy and for continuing to make promises about their daughter when he knew that the adoption was illegal. Billy knew she was right, but he hoped that they could appeal the decision. Victoria left the house, but she ended up confiding in Nick that she felt bad for getting so angry with Billy. She said that she was sure that they would be able to work it out together. While she was gone, Billy and Victoria's lawyer and Billy's good friend, Rafe Torres, visited Billy and told him that there would be no hope of winning an appeal. Billy, believing Victoria wanted him to leave, packed his bags. When Victoria returned, he told her that he was leaving. She was shocked and disappointed. Pride, anger and sadness prevented the two of them from saying what was in their hearts, and Billy left, moving back into his old trailer.

Victoria ended up being comforted by her father and a sympathetic Chloe Mitchell. When Victor comforted her, he surprised her by offering her a seat on the Newman Board of Directors. He also explained that Billy was at his best with her, but he was now reverting back to his old self: a gambler and a drunk. To try to prove Victor wrong, Victoria went out to look for Billy, finding him at his old trailer. Inside, she found Billy with a nearly nude woman. Billy had actually been fending off the woman, but the situation, along with the fact that Billy was drunk and admitted to betting on horses, caused Victoria to declare that her father was right about him. With that, Victoria agreed to the board seat and the position of COO of Newman Enterprises. However, Victoria continued to try to help Billy get out of rapid downward spiral. Victoria also testified for Billy during his custody suit with Chloe over their daughter, Delia Abbott. After her testimony, Billy hoped to reunite with Victoria, but she felt her testimony was no reflection of their relationship, because Billy was still struggling with his old destructive habits. Victoria changed her mind once Billy left, and she went to find him at the trailer. However, he never came home; instead, he was in jail for soliciting a prostitute. In reality, Victor arranged a prostitute to come to Billy, but Victoria was unaware of his role. The charge and his drinking cost him the custody of Delia and Victoria's desire to reconcile. Victoria believed him when he said he wasn't hiring a prostitute, but the fact that he was in a position for the charge to be made was just more evidence that he wasn't prepared to straighten up. Later that night, Billy went to Jimmy's Bar where he saw the new bartender, Cane Ashby

, who tried to help set Billy straight. Cane told Billy that he knew from experience what it was like to lose your children (Mattie and Charlie) and your wife (Lily Ashby), and he did not wish the same fate upon Billy. After arguing, Cane gave in and told Billy to just give up, and he began to pour Billy shots of tequila, leading the audience to believe that Billy was going to get drunk. At Jabot's launch party for their new cosmetics line, Jack received news that Billy was in a car accident. After Jack, Ashley and his mother, Jill Fenmore, see that Billy was bruised, yet alive in the hospital, Victoria decided to visit him at his bedside. The doctors confirmed that Billy was not drinking at the time of the accident, revealing that he never drank the shots that Cane poured him. While Victoria believed he was sedated from medication, she talked to Billy about how much she loved him and what he had given her and how much she missed her old life with him, when they used to have fun and laugh with each other and their children. She didn't laugh anymore, and they don't have their children anymore, and she could not handle all of Billy's mistakes on her own. She kissed him on the forehead and left, and after the door closes behind her, Billy opened his eyes, revealing that he heard every word that she said.

The next day, a package arrived for Victoria at her home, and she realized that it was Billy's birthday, and the package was a painting of the two of them that she had made for him. The painting was of Victoria and Billy at Halloween; Billy was Hugh Hefner

, and Victoria was a Playboy Bunny. Ashley came over to see Victoria and tell her that Billy was out of the hospital. She saw the painting, but Victoria told her she's not sure what to do with it. Ashley told her that she could come to the party that she and Jack were throwing for Billy, and she could give him his gift. Instead, she declined because Reed was coming over, and she quickly wrote a card for Ashley to give to Billy, just so he knew that she didn't forget his birthday. Billy was disappointed when Victoria didn't come to his party. He walked by their house, almost knocking on the door, but he peeked in the window to see Victoria playing with Reed, and he walked away. Later, they met up accidentally in the park, where, after a misunderstanding involving Delia, Victoria and Abby witnessed Chloe taking Delia away from Billy and threatening to have all of Billy's access to Delia removed. Victoria tried to encourage him to fight for his daughter, and she offered to fight with him. Billy, who after hearing Victoria's words in the hospital, decided that the best thing he could do for her was to push her away. He curtly dismissed all of her efforts to help and made a show of the fact that he hasn't changed his old ways, telling her to stay out of his problems because all he wanted to do was have a drink and check his bets. Victoria could not understand why Billy changed so drastically, but he told her that he was always like that, and she used to like it.

Meanwhile, Victoria approached Abby with a job opportunity. She wanted Abby's alter ego, the "Naked Heiress", to be the spokeswoman for Newman Enterprises' new cosmetics line for Beauty of Nature. The two daughters got their father's approval for the idea, but they were forced to put their project on hold: Victoria found out that Nikki was missing from her rehab center after Diane Jenkins

leaked pictures of Victor and Nikki in bed to the press, and Abby found out that Diane had a copy of the videotape where Abby confessed that she hit Tucker McCall with her car while driving drunk. Enraged at Diane, Victoria confronted her, scolding her for making Nikki pay for all of her mishaps. While Victor and Victoria were at the Athletic Club deciding how to handle the situation with Nikki, Billy, having seen an upset Victoria earlier at Crimson Lights, approached her when she was alone at the bar and offered to listen if she needed to talk. Victoria, still hurt by his treatment of her in the park, brushed him off, reminding him that just yesterday, he didn't even give her the time of day. While Victoria cried in the ladies' lounge, a frustrated Billy sat and drank. Later, as Victoria sat on a couch nearby, he walked up to the bar after ending a phone call, and he unknowingly was standing next to Victor, who shoved Billy and yelled at him for coming near Victoria, while Billy interjected that Victoria was back to her old uptight, closed-off self because of Victor.  did not hold the two back. In the end, Billy was arrested and thrown in the jail for the night.

After the altercation, Victoria was one of many in her family who received a text from Diane Jenkins to meet her at the footbridge in the park. After Diane's body was found floating in the water, Victoria was next seen at the Police Station, where she bailed Billy out of jail and offered him a ride back to the Athletic Club, where his car was. She was acting very tense and on edge from the night before and asked him to stay with her so they could talk, but Billy, once again intent on pushing her away, said that it was not a good time for him, and the best thing for them both was to go their separate ways.

Billy's Departure to and Return from Hong Kong

Billy went back home to collect the rest of his belongings, and Victoria found him there. She told him that they were worse apart than they are together, and Victoria leaned in to kiss Billy. He gave in to her, and on August 4, 2011, they made love in their home. Afterward, Victoria went to get herself and Billy some coffee from the kitchen, and when she came back, Billy was gone. Later, she got a phone call from Billy's cell phone, but the person on the other line worked at an airport in Hong Kong, where Billy had left his phone. Victoria was left beside herself after Billy's departure. Abby Newman tried to help her half-sister loosen up and get away from her work after Billy left her, even going as far as to ask her to move in with her so she could leave her old house and old memories behind. Victoria did not want to leave her house, so she was surprised yet happy when Sam Gibson, Sharon Newman's lover from New Mexico, came to her door. Apparently, Victor told Sam that Victoria had a room for rent, even though she really didn't have a room to spare. It was unknown what Victor's motives were by introducing Sam to Victoria, but Victoria decided to let Sam live in the apartment that she had above her garage.

and needed a bone marrow transplant. Victoria vowed to bring Billy home at all costs and reunite him with his little girl.

September 8, 2011 marked Billy and Victoria's one year wedding anniversary. To cheer her up, Sam came over with a surprise for Victoria: a new dog. Since moving to Genoa City, Sam, a veterinarian by trade, began working at the local animal shelter, and he decided to bring a stray home. Because Sam's garage apartment was too small, Victoria offered to keep the dog, which she named Keely because it meant "handsome". The episode ended with Billy waking up on a dirt floor in an undisclosed location. Victoria was unaware that Billy was locked up in a cave-like cell, and if Victor agreed to release him, he could not see Victoria ever again.

After hearing about Delia's condition, Billy agreed to return to Genoa City and never see his wife again. While her husband was still trapped in the clutches of her ruthless father, Sam and Victoria's friendship began to blossom. While she seemed to enjoy Sam's company, Victoria frequently called Jack Abbott for news on Billy. When Jack told her that his private investigators pinpointed Billy to being back in Hong Kong, Jack booked a flight there, and Victoria went to Billy's trailer, hoping that he might be on his way home. In reality, Billy had just left the trailer to secretly go visit Delia at the hospital with Kevin's help, and Victor had paid someone to confuse Jack into thinking that Billy was overseas when in reality, he was already home.

When news broke that Kevin Fisher was a bone marrow match for Delia, Victoria joined in the celebration over Kevin's heroic act. She didn't know that her father forced Kevin to pose as the donor, when in reality, Billy was the true donor match. Thinking about Billy, Victoria sent him an e-mail, telling him about Delia's illness and how much everyone wanted him home. She had no idea that Billy had access to his laptop, and he read her e-mail. He wrote a short reply to her, but he backed out and deleted the message at the last minute. Billy was worried that Victoria would not be able to forgive him for what he did while he was in Hong Kong.

Sam decided to take Victoria to the Newman Ranch so she could see the horses and get her mind off Billy. While dismounting off a horse, she fell and twisted her ankle. Sam helped her to the car and back to her house, and he even went so far as to carry her up the stairs so she could get changed. Meanwhile, Billy became fed up with Victor's rules, and he left the trailer, headed to see Victoria at their home. Just as he was about to knock on the door, he saw Sam carrying Victoria up the stairs. Not knowing the prior circumstances, Victor told Billy that Victoria had moved on, and Billy believed that he was witnessing Victor's statement with his own eyes.

The next day, Billy snuck back inside his home and hid in the closet when Victoria showed up. She suspected that someone was inside, but Billy ran out the front door and avoiding being seen. Before he left, he heard Sam and Victoria engaging in what he thought was a flirtatious banter, but in reality, they were talking about Keely, the dog. After Billy left, Victoria wrote him another e-mail, telling him how much she loved and missed him. Instead of opening the e-mail, Billy, in an attempt to save himself from more heartache over his wife, deleted the confession. Victoria then decided that she couldn't keep living in the past, so she called her friend and lawyer, Michael Baldwin

to discuss divorce options. Michael told her that she could file for a type of divorce for when you couldn't find your husband or wife for them to sign and legalize the divorce themselves. Just as Victoria was about to sign the papers, she backed out at the last minute. On October 18, 2011, Victoria tries several times to sign the divorce papers, though at first she misplaces the original copies, and when Michael sends over new ones, she accidentally spills coffee on them. On October 27 Victoria finally signs the divorce papers, officially ending her marriage to Billy. On November 16, Victoria bumps into Billy at a bar in New York, while awaiting a flight back to Genoa City. They reconnect and in Genoa City she chooses him over Victor and this time she aboslutly means it.
