Marriage to Sharon Collins

Nick started dating Amy Wilson, a young girl who his mother thought highly of, but he became attracted to Sharon Collins. Nick ended up fighting Matt Clark

, Sharon's ex-boyfriend, for Sharon. Matt beat Nick up, but Sharon's heart still belonged to Nick. After his son was beat up, Victor taught Nick how to box, much to Nick's dismay. Matt constantly called Nick "rich boy", which Nick did not like at all. Matt started to dig up dirt on Sharon, and he found out that she was impregnated with her boyfriend's child at age 16, and she gave up the baby for adoption. Initially angry at Sharon for making him believe she was a virgin, Nick forgave her.

Once Nick learned that Matt raped Sharon, he went to confront him ,but he found him on the floor bleeding from a gunshot wound. When the police arrived, they suspected Nick was the one who shot him. Nick was sentenced to thirteen years in jail, but he was exonerated of his charges when it was revealed his ex-girlfriend, Amy Wilson, was the one who actually shot Matt after he raped her, too.

In January 1996, Nick proposed to Sharon, and they were married in a small ceremony in February, much to the dismay of Nikki, who thought that Sharon was a golddigger, after the Newman name and fortune. In 1997, Sharon became insecure about her marriage to Nick, and she stopped taking birth control, eventually ending up pregnant with a son.

That winter, Sharon slipped on some ice, and she went into premature labor, giving birth to Noah Christian Newman

. When Noah survived, Grace didn't tell Sharon that Cassie was her child, and she decided to pursue Nick, who she had a crush on. Eventually, the truth came out about Cassie's maternity, and Nick adopted her.

Whilst assisting Nick on a business trip to Denver, Grace seduced Nick, and they had sex. Sharon found out about Nick's infidelity, and she left him. Later, Cassie's adoptive mother, Alice Johnson, came to Genoa City to take back custody of Cassie. Sharon took back a guilty Nick, and the two of them were awarded custody of Cassie. Victor gave Grace a job with Newman Enterprises in New York, in order for her to leave town. Nick and Sharon's relationship healed, and together they bought the Crimson Lights coffeehouse, a place where they loved to hang out during their high school years.

returned with a reconstructed face, using the identity of "Carter Mills". Carter arranged for Matt to be jailed for selling drugs. He used date rape drugs to sleep with Tricia McNeil, and he attempted to rape Sharon, but he was unsuccessful. He tried to rape a second time Sharon at the Newman cabin, but he was stopped by Victor.

Tricia picked up Carter, and she drove them off a cliff, expecting to murder them both. She survived, but Carter was critically injured, and he committed suicide by pulling the plug on his life support in order to frame Nick. Nick was briefly jailed, but he was eventually let go.

Later Sharon was pregnant with a baby girl, which Nick insisted was Matt's child. Sharon trusted in the fact that the baby was Nick's without taking a paternity test. While in a fight with Nick, he burst out of the house. Worried, Sharon went after him, but she tripped on a chair and gave birth to a premature baby girl, who died that day. Sharon left Nick, blaming him for the loss of her little girl. She then had an affair with Diego Guittierez

after believing that Nick was having an affair with Grace Turner, who was passing through town. Nick won Sharon back, but their reunion was short-lived after Sharon's affair with Diego was outed. Nick and Sharon decided to split up once again.

Nick wanted to reconcile with Sharon out of guilt because he blamed himself for Cassie's death. Nick had already confided to his sister Victoria that he was in love with Phyllis. He also told Phyllis he loved her and their baby but he had an obligation to his wife and son. Nick wanted to be with Phyllis and their baby, so he decided to stay in a loveless marriage. But he became furious when he saw Sharon kissing his father, Victor, through the window. The Newmans' lives were turned upside down by this, as Nikki and Victor's marriage also suffered due to the bizarre kiss. Sharon, knowing her life was a mess, left town. In her absence, Nick took over the sole parent for their kids, Cassie and Noah. Cassie almost drowned in a lake, but she was saved by Nick. Sharon eventually returned and reunited with Nick once again. Their relationship was threatened when a man Sharon had an affair with while on her "retreat" came to Genoa City. His name was Cameron Kirsten

, and he demanded that Sharon become involved with him, or he would reveal their affair. Cameron had also beaten Sharon, and her trip away was lengthened so she could recover from her wounds in time for her return. Cameron began taunting and threatening Sharon that he would tell Nick about "their affair" until New Year's Eve, when he told her to meet him at a fleabag hotel for another round or else. Sharon met him there, but she refused to give into him. When Cameron attempted to rape her, Sharon threw a champagne bottle at his head, and she thought that he was dead. In a panic, she dragged his body down the backstairs and hid it behind a dumpster.

Sharon kept seeing Cameron's "ghost" everywhere, and in an attempt to prove to herself that he was dead, she went into the sewer, and his body was still there. Later, it was revealed that it was the body of Sharon's ex-boyfriend and Cassie's biological father, Frank. The dead body in the sewer and the taunting of Sharon was arranged by Cameron Kirsten and Grace Turner, who both wanted revenge on Sharon. Cameron briefly took Sharon hostage on a jet, but Nick turned up, and the three of them ended up jumping from the plane. They walked to civilization and turned Cameron into the police, and they have not seen him since. Sharon also briefly fantasized about being a stripper, but Nick hooked her up with a spokesperson job for Jabot Cosmetics.

Cassie's Death, Marriage to Phyllis Summers and Restless Style

In 2005, Sharon's daughter, Cassie, at age 14, died as the result of a car accident. Cassie did not know how to drive, and Daniel Romalotti was drunk and could not drive himself. Cassie offered to drive him home because she had a crush on him. She got them into an accident, and both flew out of the car. Cassie died in the hospital before her parents eyes, and her death caused a strain on Nick and Sharon's marriage. Nick was very angry, obsessed on killing Daniel and holding him responsible for Cassie's death. Daniel was on the run with his girlfriend Lily Winters

were on a business trip in New York, and the two grew very close. Sharon found out about Nick and Phyllis's affair, she asked for a divorce, and they separated. She went on another business trip for Newman Enterprises in New York; Brad showed up, and they had a one night stand. Finding out that Sharon may have moved on, Nick wanted to stay married to her, and later she forgave him. Phyllis then found out that she was pregnant, and in 2006, Sharon officially divorced Nick. On October 24, 2006, Nick and Phyllis got married at a cow-boy bar.

Phyllis was expected to give birth to her baby on Thanksgiving. However the baby was late, and she was also in a breeched position. One night during an ice storm, Nick left Phyllis at the office to get her hospital bag at home. On his way back to his wife, he lost connection on his cell phone. While he was driving, he found out that his stepson, Daniel, was in a car accident. Scared for his stepson's life, Nick was determined not to lose him. Nick saved Daniel, and on his way to the hospital, he found out that his wife was in labor. Nick desperately wanted to be present for his baby's birth. However, Phyllis had already given birth to their daughter in the elevator at Newman Enterprises, with the help of her ex-husband, Jack Abbott

. Nick met his daughter for the first time at the hospital as they were wheeling his wife inside. Nick was thankful to Jack for helping Phyllis during her time of need. Nick and Phyllis decided to name their daughter Summer Ann Newman, because of the coincidental facts that she was born during an ice storm, and Phyllis' maiden name is Summers.

Later, Sharon, was accompanied by Dru and their mutual enemy, Phyllis, to a cliff-side photo shoot, and Sharon asked Dru to be her maid of honor at her upcoming wedding to Jack. When Phyllis threatened to use her cell phone to reveal Sharon's affair with Brad to their friends and family, Drucilla reached for Phyllis' cell phone. A brief struggle with Phyllis caused Sharon and Drucilla to fall off the cliff and into the shallow waters below. A nearly dead Sharon was eventually rescued, but search and rescue personnel only found the remains of Drucilla's jacket. Her body was never recovered.

Weeks later, Sharon and Jack were secretly married in April 2007. Nick got in a plane crash and suffered from amnesia. He believed that he was still married to Sharon and that Cassie was still alive. Nick, only remembering his love for Sharon, wanted to win her back even though Sharon was married to Jack. Nick planned a bank vault photoshoot, and Nick and Sharon were locked inside, where they talked and reminisced about their past. Nick then kissed Sharon. Sharon urged Nick to stay and to support his wife, Phyllis. Nick regained his memory, and he remembered Phyllis and Summer again.

Since Phyllis left prison, she and Nick joined forces with Jack and Sharon Abbott in a magazine venture. The magazine, "Restless Style Magazine", was downgraded by Victor after he fired Nick from Newman Enterprises. The latest venture was to do business with Forrester Creations, but when Jack talked with Eric Forrester

, due to the slanderous stories written in Restless Style magazine.

When Victor left for Mexico, the board of Newman Enterprises first wanted to make Nick acting CEO, but he turned it down, given his relationship with his father, and instead he nominated Victoria. The board overwhelmingly voted to make Victoria acting CEO, much to Adam's disdain. Upon the claim that Victor died in a boat accident during a violent storm in Mexico, his will allegedly made Adam the CEO of Newman Enterprises. Adam then fired longtime loyal employee Neil Winters

, as well as his half-sister, Victoria, clearly for personal reasons. When Victor returned, he fired Adam from Newman Enterprises, and he kicked him off the Newman ranch for what he did to Neil, Victoria, Nick, and Victor's dog, Zapato.

Nick and Victoria were thrilled to have their father back, but he told them both to leave. In a public announcement, he asked everyone, including family and friends, to leave him in peace at the main house on the Newman ranch. Nick, having problems with Jack's control over Restless Style, almost sold out to Jack, but after talking with Sharon, Victor gave Nick a line of credit, covering any check Nick wrote. Nick bought out Jack, thereby completely owning Restless Style, and he told Victoria to take the job Neil offered her at Newman Enterprises.

Affair with Sharon, Divorce from Phyllis and the Birth of Faith

In 2008, Nick and Sharon ended up meeting in Paris while their son, Noah, was on a school trip, visiting all of the museums and national landmarks. Sharon had never been to Paris, so Nick promised Sharon to give her a tour of the city in one day. After their trip around the city, they stopped on a bridge overlooking the Eiffel Tower. Nick pulled Sharon in, and the two kissed without knowing that Phyllis was looking at them from across the waterway.

Sharon stopped the kiss, and she told Nick that she would not be the other woman in the situation. After returning to Genoa City, Nick went on with his life without telling Phyllis about the kiss. Phyllis eventually told him that she saw the two of them in Paris, but she wanted to keep their marriage together for the sake of their young daughter, Summer, and because she felt that they could still make it work. Exchanges between the two women became extremely awkward, and even more so when Nick offered Sharon her old job back at Newman Enterprises. Nick and Phyllis's marriage became very fragile when Nick found out that Phyllis was sending Brad Carlton to seduce a vulnerable Sharon during her collapsing marriage to Jack.

In 2009, Nick and Sharon reconnected and shared a one-night stand. Sharon became pregnant, and it was unknown whether the baby belonged to Nick, Jack or Billy Abbott

. Once Nick was found out to be the father, he was overjoyed, but he stayed with Phyllis after Summer suffered an allergic reaction and was hospitalized. Upon delivery, Sharon was tricked by Adam into thinking that her baby was a stillborn, and her healthy baby was given to Ashley Abbott

, who was having a hysterical pregnancy. Nick found out that his daughter with Sharon had passed, and as he grieved for his daughter, he fell in love with Sharon all over again.

Along with several other family members and friends, Nick confronted Adam in the Newman cabin, where everything was revealed. When Adam was found dead after the explosion at the masquerade ball, evidence pointed to Nick, and he was arrested for his brother's murder. At the same time, Nick continued to be torn between Phyllis and Sharon. When Sharon confessed that she never felt for Adam what she did for him, he began to gently stroke her hair, and his feelings for her seemed to re-emerge. Phyllis walked in on this scene, which confirmed her fears for her marriage.

In July 2010, after being released from prison, Phyllis left Nick, knowing that he would never stop committing himself to Sharon and that he still loved his ex-wife. Nick asked for another chance, but Phyllis refused, ending their four-year marriage.

Nick tried to do the best that he could to protect Sharon from Adam, who he knew was dangerous and could hurt Sharon if he really wanted to. Nick and Sharon had a slow-running relationship. After Sharon surprised everyone by eloping with Adam, they returned back to Genoa City, but their plane crashed. Before the plane went down, Adam told Sharon that her baby was alive. After the two survived the crash, Sharon and Nick proved that Adam caused Ashley to become psychotic, and that her baby was really theirs. Sharon annulled her marriage to Adam after finding out this news. Finally, Nick and Sharon were reunited with their baby, Faith Newman. Nick and Sharon even shared a kiss on Halloween. A few days later, Nick and Sharon's relationship re-intensified while at Gloworm, and they went back to the ranch, where they made love.

Nick proposed to Sharon in November 2010. At first, Sharon turned him down, but after he presented her with their first engagement ring from over 15 years ago, she accepted. Because Adam was still involved in Sharon's life, she began to get confused about who she truly loved, and she went to New Orleans to clear her head. Nick followed her there, only to find her in the arms of Adam. He broke off their engagement, while at the same time, Adam got arrested for the "murder" of his wife, Skye Newman. Sharon returned to Genoa City with Adam in order to help him get freed from jail. Nick did not want Faith near Adam, so he decided to sue Sharon for full custody, in which he succeeded.

Nick then ran into Diane Jenkins

at the Athletic Club. The two had dinner together, which subsequently led to them going back to the ranch and having sex in front of the fire place. Nick and Diane had a fling, which was cut short when Nick found out that Diane, who was living at the Ranch with Victor as an in-house architect, was also sleeping with Victor. In reality, Diane's true feelings lied with Nick, but he refused to take her back after he found out what she did with his father. Due to the bad blood between Nick and his father, he decided to join in his sisters' lawsuit against him, forcing Victor to take Newman Enterprises public instead of agreeing to his children's settlement offer. Nick, Victoria and their half-sister, Abby Newman, were each given a settlement of $500 million.

When Sharon traveled to Hawaii to try and find Skye, who she believed was still alive, she witnessed Skye falling into a volcano to her death. Victor witnessed the entire scene unfold, but upon her return to Genoa City empty-handed, Sharon was arrested for Skye's murder, while Adam was freed. Upon being sentenced, Adam plotted to let Sharon escape from jail and go on the run. When the public found out that Sharon was missing, Nick began to look for her. Later, he found her car, which was in an accident and burned to bits. The police identified the woman driving the car as Sharon, when really it was not her. Sharon was driving the car when she was carjacked, and the woman who stole her car also stole her engagement ring from Adam. Still, Genoa City believed she was dead and mourned the loss of her. Meanwhile, Sharon was in New Mexico, where she befriended a veterinarian, Sam Gibson. She later had a short-lived romance with him. While at a town dance, Sharon was arrested once again after being recognized, and Nick was furious that Sharon lied about her death and caused so much pain for him, Noah and Faith. Only the week before, Nick put together a memorial for Sharon, where he, Noah, Faith and Sharon's mother, Doris Collins, spread her ashes in the water at the town park. Upon seeing Sharon back at the Genoa City Police Station, Nick was furious with her and did not even go to her sentencing, where she was given 30 years in prison without parole.

, who still had feelings for Nick, walked in on and subsequently attacked Phyllis. Both Nick and Phyllis were on the outs with Diane, and she evens asked Nick for money in order to get out of town. Nick tried to be a friend to her, but he found it hard to do so when she hurt everyone that he loved.

Nick was one of the recipients of Diane's final text message, asking him to meet her in the footbridge at town park. Nick met Diane, and they began to argue, ending with Nick threatening Diane. He told her that he would kill her if she hurt anyone else in his family ever again. Unbeknownst to him, Nick's phone was calling Ashley Abbott

and leaving her a voice mail of his death threat to Diane. Nick went back to the office to work on Restless Style's latest issue, but he ended up having sex with Phyllis again, who also met Diane in the park. The two did not know that the other went to the park. The next morning, Genoa City was shocked with the news that Diane's body was found floating in the water at the town park, and her head was bashed in. Both Nick and Phyllis were prime suspects in her murder investigation, as well as most of Nick's family, including Victor, Victoria, Adam and Abby.

Nick tried to talk to Ashley to ensure that his voice mail that he left her was deleted, but she told him that she got a new phone because she lost her old one. Nick began receiving anonymous phone calls from someone who obviously had Ashley's old phone because the caller never spoke. They only played Nick's death threat over and over again. Nick went to Diane's funeral service to support her son, Kyle Jenkins, and on behalf of Victoria, who was still reeling over the fact that Billy left her. Nick also spent a lot of time with Ashley because she was the only person who knew that he actually went to the park the night that Diane died. Phyllis became suspicious, thinking that Nick and Ashley were having a fling. She didn't realize that Ashley was also being threatened by the same person who was blackmailing Nick, and the two were merely supporting each other. , who claimed that he saw her in the park the night that Diane died, and he was blackmailing her into going on dates with him.

Ronan Malloy called Nick to meet him at GloWorm, and unknowingly, Ashley was there, too. Ronan received information from the cell tower near the park that Nick and Ashley were both at the park the night of the murder, and he wanted them to make a confession, but Nick and Ashley merely rephrased their story, saying that they were in the park, but they didn't see Diane. Ronan let them believe that he was buying their story, but really he left a tape recorder in his bag and walked out, so he had a recording of their conversation where they made up their new alibi. Nick and Ashley continued to support each other while their blackmailer's identity was still unknown. Nick tried to see if there was any DNA on the envelope that contained a picture of Ashley in the park that the blackmailer sent her. Nick and Ashley were both convinced that Adam was the one playing games with them, but nothing ever came of the evidence.

Meanwhile, Victor hired a new lawyer, Avery Bailey Clark, to represent Sharon. Upon Avery's arrival in Genoa City, Phyllis became very uneasy and on edge, and Nick became worried about her. He told her that what they had was more than a fling, and Avery saw the two kissing in Crimson Lights. In reality, Phyllis was worried because Avery was her biological sister, and Phyllis never spoke to her because she ran away from her family when she was a teenager. Phyllis told Avery not to tell anyone that they were siblings, especially Nick. Avery eventually told Sharon about her relationship with Phyllis, as she felt an obligation to be honest to her client. After being persuaded by Noah, Nick decided to visit Sharon in prison, and he even brought Faith to visit her mother. Nick and Sharon apologized for being so rude to one another when Sharon was brought back to Genoa City. When Nick went to see Sharon again a second time, he told her that he was concerned because Faith kept asking for her mother after visiting her in prison. After witnessing Phyllis kissing Nick, Avery lured Nick and Phyllis to the courthouse, where she began to argue with Phyllis about their secret. On September 8, 2011, Nick overheard Phyllis and Avery talking in the courtroom, revealing that they were sisters. Nick was upset that Phyllis could not confide and trust in him with her past, but she told him that she did not want to bring up her past with anyone, and she just wanted to forget it all together.
