Identification

This grasshopper actually grows between 3-4 inches and coloration varies between,yellow,black,white,gray(common),orange,and tan sand. The wings expand to more than half its body length and is a very strong flier.

Remarks

Schistocerca Nitens is as explained a very strong flier and it perfers to fly low to the ground no more than 20 feet and it sways back and forth looking quite clumsy.

Life cycle

The grasshopper's life starts out as an egg and then grows bigger over time and it becomes sexually mature at 3-4 months of age. You can find any stage of its life cycle at any time of the year but they are less active during the winter and fall.Mating usually takes most of the grasshopper's time in the summer because it is mostly nocturnal and will mate around bright lights when the night is warm.
