In 1986, Pan Am bought Ransome Airlines
, a commuter airline with headquarters in Pennsylvania
and renamed it Pan Am Express. Further acquisitions were Air Atlanta
, Empire Airlines
and Republic Airlines, which were also merged into Pan Am Express. In 1990, the combined airlines were oprganized by a single airline licence
.
When Pan Am folded in 1991, Pan Am Express was sold to Trans World Airlines
and renamed to Trans World Express
