After speculations in Swedish media that their relationship was on the rocks, the couple officially announced their separation in June 2008. It is believed that Charlotte's heavy workload was a contributing factor to the couple's split. This was later denied by both Nicola and Charlotte, who stated that they were just taking a break from each other. On 24 September 2009, the couple filed for divorce.
