There is no direct link of ancient Pankration to the modern sport. The modern version is an amateur form of Mixed Martial Arts

 with emphasis on safety and sportsmanship. Amateur Pankration is now a recognized form of International Wrestling under the Fédération Internationale des Luttes Associées, also known as FILA.

Today the Pankration championships include: Pankration, Pankration Paidon (children's Pankration), Palaismata, and Polydamas.

Fédération Internationale des Luttes Associées
http://www.fila-grappling.com/FILA Is the International Olympic Committee recognized governing body for Freestyle Wrestling, Greco Roman Wrestling, Women's Wrestling as well as non Olympic Sports of Pankration, Grappling and Amateur Mixed Martial Arts. Under FILA, the sports of Pankration, Grappling and Mixed Martial Arts may be introduced to the Olympic Games as an additional medal discipline of Wrestling.

International Federation of Pankration athlima (IFPA)
The International Federation of Pankration athlima founded in 1999, holds international Championships for Pankration each year. It is based in Greece and the oldest of all recognized Pankration Organizations.

Amateur Pankration in the United States
The USA Federation of Pankration Athlima founded in 2001, is the recognized sanctioning body of Pankration in the United States.

Amateur Pankration in the US Military

United States Fight League
United States Fight League Is an affiliated League that supports both USA Wrestling's Grappling Program and the USAFPA's Pankration program with sanctioned and independent events within the United States. The United States Armed Forces currently uses the United States Fight League to sanction Military Events. The USFL also offers competition based rank certification for competitors of all Pankration federations.

Amateur Pankration in Australia

The Australian Pankration and Grappling Committee organises Pankration and grappling competitions via the local FILA wrestling bodies, founded in 2010 and is a continuing circuit.

The Australian Federation of Pankration athlima was founded 1999 and is the recognised sanctioning body of Pankration in Australia. State and national tournaments have been held since 1999.

Each Year FILA holds the World Grappling, Pankration and Amateur Mixed Martial Arts Championships with World Championship tournaments for Seniors and Veterans, Cadets and Juniors.
