Etymology

It means "fat river". People believe that there are two hypotheses regarding the origin of the name. One says that in Cakrak village, an old Greeks

 town, people use stone tubes from high parts of village to transport milk to the riverside, or town center, and the river seems fat. Others say that the river is cursed by Saint Hacı Abdullah Halife. He says "be fat river and take one person's life every year."

The old name used to be "Camiyanı" ('next to the mosque').

Tourism

Known as the green and water land, Yaglidere may be one of the most important eco tourism centers in Turkey in the 21st century. There are several plants resulting in local green foods. The village is known for having healthy inhabitants as a result of the food.

Many tourists visit the tomb of Sarı Halife in Tekkeköy or enjoy a taste of local meat. Many rest in Ayvat of Sinirköy (Sinoria) for a glass of tea.

Golyani (means near lake) is breathtakingly pretty. Drive to this high plateau in Sinir village. You will pleased to a beautiful place once a lifetime.

You must see Cakrak old churches. If it is summer time you can swim in river.

Go to Akilbaba Hill (2.800 m), if it is not cloudy you can see further mountains and places.

In July you can live and see in Bulari, Kazikbeli and Kumbet festivals.

It doesn't have any dusk-'til-dawn foam parties or idyllic islands strewn with classical ruins and bikini-clad French women but neither are there any carpet dealers or English lager louts.

Comfortable accommodations are plentiful except in some of the more remote mountain villages.

From coastal beaches to its famous multi-colored forests of oak, alder, pine, hazelnut and many more varieties of trees, visitors to Yaglidere can travel through all four seasons of the year within the course of a short drive.

Buy some vegetables and fruits for probability guest of local people. If they live there for a few weeks this will be good gift.

Spend a day and night in highlands. Sleep in a tent near water or hill. You will fresh yourself.

Foods

The highlands produce dairy products, including some excellent cheeses. "Tecen peyniri" is made with herbs and spices and adds zest to any breakfast. They also produce a type of very dry cheese which is used to make muhlama (kuymak, havits), or cheese fondue.

Black Sea food, for instance, is arguably the best in Turkey and years of geographic isolation have even given the locals unique physical characteristics, as well as a reputation for being country bumpkins.

Turks will often claim Black Sea fruit to be the best in the world, and a sample of a local cherry or apricot might be enough to convince you.

Turkish tea is a strong, smoky black variety that, traditionally served with sugar, is as much a social event and opportunity for human interaction as it is a beverage.

 this becomes heavy in the summer and autumn. Summers here are warm and humid and the weather is often changeable and cloudy.

The interior plateau has low rainfall and cold or very cold winters. Towards the east the winter cold is similar to that found in parts of the Russian Federation. Except at higher levels, summers in the interior are warm or even hot with occasional thunderstorms. Winter precipitation here falls mostly as snow and towards the east this may lie on the ground for between three and four months.
