. It is a highly respected, research intensive faculty established in 1913, one of the oldest in Western Canada. The faculty generated $189 million in research in 2008, and is one of the better funded medical research facilities in Canada.

Admissions

The University of Alberta Faculty of Medicine is highly competitive. For admissions into the MD (medical) program, the MCAT requirement to gain entrance is the highest in Canada while the GPA requirement is the second highest in Canada.

Acceptance rate

In 2011, 167 students were admitted from a pool of 1344 applicants, yielding an acceptance rate of 12.4%. For admissions into the DDS (dental) program, in 2011, 32 students were admitted from a pool of 353 applicants, yielding an acceptance rate of 9%.
