Total Wine & More is the largest independent fine wine retailers in the United States and is among just a handful of fine wine retailers who operate in multiple states. It is the leading non-supermarket seller of fine wine in the United States.

History

In 1998, Total Wine & More purchased five Total Beverage stores from the Dart Group. Following the purchase, Total Wine grew slowly until 2002, when other executives were brought in from major retailers like BJ's

Total Wine is the expansion of the now defunct Pennsylvania chain of the alcohol retailer known as "Beer World". The business originated with Case Beer Outlet in Hanover, Pennsylvania, which was opened by Thomas Trone Sr., the father of owners David and Robert Trone.
