Career

Seagle has written numerous comics, plays, screenplays, animation scripts and original graphic novels. Seagle has a varied resume in contemporary comics ranging from super-hero franchises such as Superman and Uncanny X-Men (Wizard Awards for Favorite Series and Best Moment of the Year) to cult favorite DC/Vertigo Comics genre books, like Sandman Mystery Theatre (multiple Eisner Award nominations),[2] House of Secrets,[3] and American Virgin (GLAAD Media Award nominations 2007 & 2008), or to more personal works like: It’s a Bird… (with Teddy Kristiansen) and Solstice. Seagle and Rouleau also created the Marvel Comics super-hero team Big Hero 6.

In 2001, Seagle co-founded MAN OF ACTION Studios, a creative think tank and production house, along with fellow partners and comic book creators Joe Casey, Joe Kelly, and Duncan Rouleau. MAN OF ACTION scripted four short films for an independent producer before being tapped to write the script for Activision’s highly successful X-Men: Legends video game. Their third professional credit was the original animation series BEN 10 which they created and sold to Cartoon Network. The original series ran for 52 episodes and has so far spawned sequel series Ben 10: Alien Force; Ben 10 Ultimate Alien; two live action made-for TV-movies; a live action feature in production with Joel Silver, as well as numerous international spin-off series; a live stage show; a monster truck show; and a billion dollar merchandise line. Their second original creation for Cartoon Network, Generator Rex, has aired over forty episodes to date, launched a merchandise line, and will cross-over with Ben 10 in 2011. MAN OF ACTION is currently serving as co-executive producer and story editor on Ultimate Spider-Man for Marvel/Disney which is set to premiere in 2012.

Seagle’s current writing projects include Donor an original graphic novel for DC/Vertigo painted by Dean Ormston; The Red Diary/The Re[a]d Diary with Teddy Kristiansen for Man of Action/Image Comics, Genius an original graphic novel also with Kristiansen for First:Second Press, and Imperial with Mark Dos Santos for Man of Action/Image Comics.

Following 2010’s Frankie Stein, Seagle’s second children’s book will re-team him with Frankie artist Marco Cinello for Batula Published by Man of Action/Image Comics.

Steve’s original comic book series House of Secrets was sold as a feature to Marc Canton/Warner Brothers, and Steve wrote the screenplay (unproduced). The same week Steve also sold the genre action pilot Carnival (not Carnivale) to FOX in association with Spelling Entertainment (unproduced). In that same week he sold the girls action/comedy Dot’s Bots to Mainframe Animation completing an amazing week and an “unproduced” trifecta.

As a founding member of Speak Theater Arts, Seagle co-wrote, co-directed and produced two live stage comedies. N*GGER WETB*CK CH*NK (www.NWClive.com) has played to packed houses coast-to-coast for over eight years generating explosive laughs, a massive fan base, and impressive reviews including full-page features in both The LA Times and the New York Times. ArmeniaMania! (www.armeniamania.com) staged two preview performances as part of the Los Angeles Grand Performances series and will open in LA early next year. In 2009, Seagle co-directed one of the national premiere readings of Laramie Project: an Epilogue (www.laramieproject.org) with a celebrity cast including Bradley Whitford, Elizabeth McCormick, and Mary McDonnell and featuring, Gay Men’s Chorus Los Angeles.

Steven is currently co-writing and co-directing an original musical, Limbo, with Brian Graden and Liesel Reinhart.
