Early life and Arabesque (1962–1984)

, close to the French border. Her father, Robert, who owned a wine store in Saarbrücken, is French and her mother, Karin, who worked in a shoe store, is German. Sandra also had an older brother, Gaston, a paraplegic who died in 1995. Sandra showed an early interest in music and dancing. She started to learn classical ballet

In 1975, at the age of thirteen, Sandra went with her mother to see "Young Star Festival", a Saarbrücken talent competition, which sought to discover new performers for the music industry. In November 2007 it was announced that Sandra and Michael were divorced, citing "personal and professional differences". Personal life

Sandra and Michael Cretu were married on 7 January 1988 and, in July 1995, became the parents of twin sons, Nikita and Sebastian. They were divorced in November 2007, citing "personal and professional differences". While Michael has been living in Germany since May 2009, she has continued to reside in Ibiza and, in 2010, married Olaf Menges. Known as a health food lover and a vegetarian, she likes sport, lives an active lifestyle and has been a strong supporter of animal rights

She is writing songs, actively recording new material and in late 2010, Sandra took part in the rock-anthem project, "Rock for Your Children", the Charity-Song-Initiative of Conny Conrad. The sales of the CD and the downloads will enable the funding of defined projects against child poverty. Sandra's official website has confirmed 2 album releases scheduled for release in 2011, both in different musical styles. Sandra has meanwhile recorded a new version of the Arabesque song "Ecstasy", written and produced by Michael Cretu in 1986.
