Etymology

 means a place that is close to the heavens and Saket was the ancient name of the city of Ayodhya.

Residential Blocks

Saket is primarily a residential area which consists of Press Enclave and residential blocks named by alphabets from A to N. These blocks constitute a mixture of row houses, multistorey apartments and two-storey apartments.

Block J

Block J is bordered by Mandir Marg on the east, Block H on the west, M.B. Road on the south and the J Block market on the north. All houses are of row houses, much like the rest of Delhi. Like the rest of Saket, there are many parks. The largest park, Thakur Vatika witnesses many morning walkers in the morning and the evening. Adjoining Thakur Vatika, there is a temple of Goddess Kali and ApeeJay School, Saket. Block J boasts of two local markets. The larger market consists of a post office, few restaurants, bakery's and sweet shops which attract many shoppers.

Block H

Block H is bordered by Block J on the east, Block G on the west, M.B. Road on the south and Block K on the north. It consists of two storey apartments and boasts of multiple parks and well planned housing, separate servant quarters, garages and a local daily needs market.

Block G

Block G is bordered by Block H on the east, Block E and F on the west, M.B. Road on the south and Block K on the north. It consists of row houses facing either the East, North or the South direction. There is a Block G park which is adjoined by Block E park on the west.

Block F

Block F is bordered by Block G on the east, Block E on the west, M.B. Road on the south and Block E on the north. It consists of row houses and two storey apartment similar to Block H.

Block E

Block E is bordered by Block F and G on the east, Block D on the west, M.B. Road on the south and the PVR complex on the north. It consists of only row houses. It boasts of the large E block park that serves residents from Block H, Block G, Block F and Block E. Some of the row houses along the major roads are now running various banks such as HDFC Bank, State Bank of India, ICICI bank.

Block D

Block D is bordered by Block E on the east, Qutab Golf Course on the west, M.B. Road on the south and Block C on the north. It consists of only row houses. It boasts of the large parks and a direct exit from the Saket metro station. The yellow line between stations Malviya Nagar to Saket passes underneath this block. Kendariya Vidalaya, Saket, a government run school, is also situated in Block D.

Entertainment

Saket is home to the PVR Cinemas Anupam-4 Multiplex Theatre, which was the first multiplex in India. The place was originally called Anupam and was owned by the Ansals Group, a group that also ran the Gyan Bharti School and shared a common boundary with the Anupam complex.
