Restructures

Even before going off the air, the channel's commercial rate was very weak. In 2001, SPH MediaWorks downsized and restructured the channel, and trimmed 73 employees from its workforce of 380. Jamal Hassim, then Chief Operating Officer for TV Works, had resigned that year, leading to the integration of the channel with Mediaworks' more successful Chinese-language channel, Channel U

Rebranding

As the audience found that there was "no need to set another Channel 5", on 1 November 2001 SPH MediaWorks TV Works as TV Works was renamed as SPH MediaWorks Channel i as Channel i began since 2001 targeting a younger audience. After being re-branded, the standard of the channel improved as demonstrated by its news programme winning the Asia Television Award in 2003.
