Controversy
Pixel has been developed for nearly 13 years with no final release ever published. It has been sold on the web as a preview-release/release candidate since the year 2000 for different prices ranging from 20-50 USD. It was stated on its website in 2000 that "Final version is expected to be released in March or April 2000. We are working also on BeOS and Linux ports of Pixel32." Since then, a final release has been scheduled on several occasions but never met. It was stated on its website in 2005 that it would have its "final beta testing in August–December 2005." and a "final stable product will be released in 2006", as well as in 2007. On September 15, 2008 it was stated that the final version would be released on the 30th of April 2009, although it was not released on this day. The final release of Pixel was later stated to be ready in the first quarter of 2010, it was however not released at this date and no news has been published since. Meanwhile, the author has a tendency not to communicate with his users. The forum is shut down completely and comments need approval before being published on the website.See also
