The Pascagoula Metropolitan Statistical Area is a metropolitan area in the southeastern corner of Mississippi
that covers two counties - Jackson
and George

, the MSA had a population of 150,564. The area was significantly impacted by Hurricane Katrina
in 2005. A July 1, 2009 estimate placed the population at 155,603. Prior to the hurricane, the area had experienced steady population growth. It is also part of the larger Gulfport-Biloxi-Pascagoula Combined Statistical Area

There were 54,418 households out of which 37.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.7% were married couples
living together, 14.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.6% were non-families. 20.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.75 and the average family size was 3.16.
In the MSA the population was spread out with 27.8% under the age of 18, 9.3% from 18 to 24, 29.7% from 25 to 44, 22.7% from 45 to 64, and 10.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 98.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.2 males.
The median income for a household in the MSA was $36,924, and the median income for a family was $42,239. Males had a median income of $33,286 versus $21,656 for females. The per capita income
