The Higher course is taught during 5th and 6th year and Advanced Higher is taught in 6th year. The exam results from the Higher course is dependant on University Entries.

Guidance
Pupils are assigned to a Guidance group in their first year at Park Mains. The guidance groups are named after Scottish Rivers, Cart, Calder, Endrick, Gryffe, Kelvin and Leven.
