Hernández's comment received minimum amount of media attention, but the criticisms was harsh, because Hernández was just fifteen years old at the time and had seen the film which is rated R. In response to the criticisms Hernández said that he was a very mature teenager and was able to view the film just like any other film.

In June 2008, Hernández and his MySpace were involved in a controversy, according to media reports parents were disappointed at the actor for using explicit language on his comments and about me section, a source told Los Angeles Times
