These 50 reservations comprise 92.925% (271,087.96 km² of 291,729.22 km²) of all Indian reservation territory in the United States, and 64.66% (610,621 of 944,317) of their resident population. There are 311 federally recognized reservations in 33 states, plus four joint use areas that are shared by members of their adjacent tribes.
