In the 18th and 19th Centuries the main sources of income were small scale cotton and tobacco production. Starting in the 1920s, a sheet metal and wire factory was built in the municipality.

Geography

Leimbach has an area, , of 1.15 square kilometre (0.444017482381415 sq mi). Of this area, 0.58 square kilometre (0.22393925198367 sq mi) or 50.4% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.36 square kilometre (0.138996777093313 sq mi) or 31.3% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.18 square kilometre (0.0694983885466563 sq mi) or 15.7% is settled (buildings or roads).
