History

Montaubion-Chardonney is first mentioned in 1200 as in Monte Albeonis. In 1223 Montaubion was mentioned as Montalbium and in 1223 Chardonney was mentioned as Chardenai. Sottens is first mentioned in 1147 as Sotens. Peney-le-Jorat is first mentioned around 1141-43 as Pinoy.

Geography

Jorat-Menthue has an area, , of 20.89 square kilometre. Of this area, 11.86 square kilometre or 56.8% is used for agricultural purposes, while 7.55 square kilometre or 36.1% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 1.31 square kilometre or 6.3% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.01 km² (2.5 acre) is either rivers or lakes and 0.01 km² (2.5 acre) is unproductive land.
