Haworth was formed by an Act of the New Jersey Legislature
on February 24, 1904, from portions of both Dumont
and Harrington Townships.
According to the United States Census Bureau
, the borough has a total area of 2.4 square miles (6.1 km2), of which, 2.0 square miles (5.1 km2) of it is land and 0.4 square miles (1.0 km2) of it (16.95%) is water.
