He was awarded first prize from the Circulo de Bellas Artes in 1954 and 1955. The held at the Instituto de Arte de Mexico awarded him 8 consecutive recognitions which helped him earn critical acclaim. He was one of the founders of the Sociedad Mexicana de Acuarelistas. In 1968 he was also recognized for his watercolor titled "El Entierro" that was exhibited at the Palacio de Bellas Artes as part of the Cultural Olympics, an event that promoted the arts and coincided with the Summer Games held in Mexico City that same year. Among his many recognitions, he was the recipient of the Premio Nacional de la Acuarela and the Premio Sinaloa de Ciencias y Artes which he received in 1991.
