He started creating and producing music as teenager when House music
's sub-genre Acid house
came along at the end of the eighties. In an interview he described the cause of his "infection" for electronic music and DJ-ing: I'd never really liked house music up until then, but this was kind of different, because it had the hip-hop element through the breakbeats, it made total sense to me.
In 1998 he produced the well known track "Post Punk Progression" which NME
lauded as "What The Beatles would have sounded like if they'd invented jungle"
Cut La Roc produced and released in 1999 a mix album for the Ministry Of Sound
's FSUK imprint and set the bar high with a new world record for DJing with 9 deck and what made him to the scratch-mix specialist of the Skint gang who's even in the Guinness Book World Records for mixing with the most decks at once (9) ever.
He spent three years consistently DJing in Australia
