Geography

Chevroux has an area, , of 4.37 square kilometres (1.7 sq mi). Of this area, 2.08 km² (0.803092489872473 sq mi) or 47.6% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.83 km² (0.320464791631804 sq mi) or 19.0% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.41 km² (0.158301885022939 sq mi) or 9.4% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.02 km² (4.9 acre) or 0.5% is either rivers or lakes and 1.01 km² (0.38996318017846 sq mi) or 23.1% is unproductive land.

Of the built up area, industrial buildings made up 1.1% of the total area while housing and buildings made up 5.0% and transportation infrastructure made up 2.5%. Out of the forested land, all of the forested land area is covered with heavy forests. Of the agricultural land, 39.1% is used for growing crops and 4.6% is pastures, while 3.9% is used for orchards or vine crops. All the water in the municipality is in lakes.

The municipality was part of the Payerne District until it was dissolved on 31 August 2006, and Chevroux became part of the new district of Broye-Vully.
