Geography

Chavannes-de-Bogis has an area, , of 2.9 square kilometre. Of this area, 1.67 square kilometre or 58.6% is used for agricultural purposes, while 0.35 square kilometre or 12.3% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.69 square kilometre or 24.2% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.01 km² (2.5 acre) or 0.4% is either rivers or lakes and 0.15 km² (37.1 acre) or 5.3% is unproductive land.

Of the built up area, industrial buildings made up 2.1% of the total area while housing and buildings made up 9.5% and transportation infrastructure made up 12.3%. Out of the forested land, all of the forested land area is covered with heavy forests. Of the agricultural land, 49.5% is used for growing crops and 9.1% is pastures. All the water in the municipality is flowing water.

The municipality was part of the Nyon District until it was dissolved on 31 August 2006, and Chavannes-de-Bogis became part of the new district of Nyon.

Chavannes de Bogis is a border crossing point from France (Divonnes les Bains) and as such forms a major traffic artery during rush hours.
