In Alberta, Bullfrog's power is from 100% wind powered facilities within Alberta. In contrast, over 90% of the power supplied to the grid comes from coal-fired plants and natural gas

In British Columbia, the power is generated from 20% wind from Alberta's Pincher Creek facility and the remaining are generated by low-impact hydro in British Columbia.
Since there is only one power grid in each locality, the actual power Bullfrog's customers purchase is physically indistinguishable from what they would receive if they purchased from another power marketer. However, Bullfrog purchases power from renewable sources at a premium and resells it to the grid, so by purchasing from Bullfrog, customers ensure the mix of sources of power consumed in their province is shifted towards renewables in a way proportional to their consumption. As an example, in Guelph, Ontario in 2006, the price premium for a residential customer to purchase from Bullfrog was about $1 a day.
