Baščaršija Nights is the biggest festival in Sarajevo

. Occurring annually from July 1 to July 31, the festival exhibits various aspects of the nation's culture. This includes performances of classical music, rock and roll

Labeled a "Cultural Manifestation", it is the largest and most popular such event in the country. The performances take place outside, in Sarajevo's Old Town district
(Specifically the famous Baščaršija
neighborhood), and entrance is completely free. It is estimated that some 150,000 people come to see the performances, of which there are usually between 40 and 50 in number.
The first day is always a performance by the Sarajevo philharmonic orchestra

The festival has resulted in a number of memorable moments and events in its history. A concert by popular Bosnian singer Dino Merlin
concluded the festival in 2000. It was held in Stadium Koševo and sold out the venue. The first Bosnian opera
in history was part of the festival in 2003. A performance by local rockers Zabranjeno pušenje
was also part of that year's festivities.
