Background

The sound system was started in 1989 by Keith Walford in Alexandria, Saint Ann who began this musical path from his vast collection of cassettes and records which he played at numerous house parties and local events. Paralleled by the demand for his services, the re-emergence of sound system domination on the Jamaican entertainment scene led to establishment of Bass Odyssey Sound System. He provided the capital start-up, receiving technical assistance from his colleague Bunny Hayles, who he had met through the Poker Machine Business. Walford soon relieved himself of selector duties focusing solely on management after welcoming new young talents such as 'Tinna One', 'Glamma G',' Squingy' and 'Lenny'. Glamma G and Squingy, the most formidable tag team for sound clashing in the early nineties, also known as the "juggling twins" because of their close biological resemblance; took the Bass Odyssey brand beyond the boundaries of the island copping numerous trophies worldwide. In 1994 there was split between Walford and Hayles, where Hayles went on to pursue other business ventures. Walford, along with the selectors reaffirmed their dedication and commitment to Bass Odyssey and the music taking the sound system to higher heights with notable global achievements and rise in popularity. In 1997 Lenny and Glamma G went on to pursue solo careers, Skinny, Worm, Dwayne and Mark joined the crew, later accompanied by Damion, Harry D, Shootah, Lexxy, Charly Blacks, Keithy (Keith Walford Jnr), Speng, Villy and Rat.
