as Khil or Hill. After a discussion with his family, he decided to take his father's surname, Gachinski. His mother is a painter.
but was coached mainly by his wife Tatiana Mishina
for the first few years and then Mishin began coaching him as well.
In the 2005–2006 season, Gachinski won the junior bronze medal at the Russian Championships

The 2007–2008 season was the first season for which Gachinski was old enough to compete on the Junior level internationally. He made his debut on the ISU Junior Grand Prix
on the 2007–2008 ISU Junior Grand Prix circuit. He won the silver medal at the event in Estonia and placed 4th at the event in Romania to qualify for the Junior Grand Prix Final, where he placed 8th.
