Biography

Moreira started BJJ as a child and it took him ten years to gain his black belt, which was given to him by Carlos Gracie Jnr. He fought twice in Brazil, winning both fights, before moving to Singapore to join the Evolve MMA

Martial Combat

His first fight in Asia was against US prospect Joe Ray at Martial Combat 3 and Moreira was knocked out cold with a right hook after just 13 seconds. Ray subsequently signed a multi fight deal with Strikeforce

Moreira made his comeback at Martial Combat 12 and submitted Korean veteran Yun Seob Kwak with a rear-naked choke.

 at only seven days notice. The fight was originally scheduled to take place at the welterweight limit but Kheder was unable to make weight so it was fought at an 82 kg catch weight.

Despite Kheder missing weight Moreira still looked to have a size advantage and he dominated the first two rounds showing some much improved stand up and Muay Thai skills. Kheder came back strongly in the third round but it was not enough to prevent Moreira claiming a surprise decision win.

This fight was Moreira's first as a lightweight and his height of 6'3" means he will have a substantial size advantage over many of the fighters in the division. Wang has spoken of his respect for Moreira's BJJ and ground fighting ability. Moreira won via TKO in the second round.
