Vojnik is a town and a municipality
in eastern Slovenia
. It lies on the Hudinja River, to the north of Celje
. Traditionally the area was part of the Lower Styria
region. The municipality is now included in the Savinja statistical region
.
Locals make their living from farming, but there are also many small businesses. Vojnik was first mentioned as a borough in 1306. It was on fire many times and the town even burned to the ground in 1839.
