Location
Located mainly on the eastern part of the municipality, Union is bounded Barangay Tapal, and Union Bay to the north. To the west and south, it is bounded by Barangay Sinandigan, to the east by Barangay Tipolo and San Isidro. , Union was then a Sitio of Barangay Tapal. Tapal is the mother Barangay of three (3) other former Sitios, which now are Barangay Union, Barangay Sentinela, and Barangay San Isidro, and still another Sitio Basbas, which still remains a sitio until now.

, its prominent residents were the late Dionesio Boiser, Cornelio Cutamora, Bonifacio Mendez, Marcelo Mendez, Faustino Boaquin, Lucio Boiser, Procopio Mendez, Mariano Mendez and Biloy Cuyag, These people were the prime- movers for the Barangay-hood of then Sitio Union.
The first step they took was to call the residents to a general assembly in order to organize a set of sitio officials which was tasked to act as aprime mover in the conversion of Sitio Union into a barangay, their efforts being probono or for free.
As a starter, they agreed on a voluntary basis, to put up a school building by contributing for free the building materials for a primary school, this being the prerequisite for a Barangay aspirant.
During the time, Union had around 50 to 70 families which qualified it for the establishment of a school as required by law. Through the concerted efforts, unity of purpose and all- out support for the project sparing nothing towards the realization of their cherished dream of turning Sitio Union into a regular Barangay, their efforts bore fruits.
They elected as their President, Dionesio Boiser and Faustino Boaquin. These two (2) people worked together as one, spending their own money and efforts for the cause. At last, their efforts were rewarded. A primary school was established in Union.
A thanksgiving party was celebrated to express their happiness for the completion of the school and they agreed to name the school as Jose Abad Santos Primary School and the first teachers were Mr. Panfilo Boiser and Mr. Lucio Cutanda. They were proud of the fact that Sitio Union had a primary school accommodating pupils from Grade I to Grade IV, making other people believe that Union was already regular Barangay, apart from our belief that no sitio can be a Barangay without passing through the Provincial Board or Congress.
Time passed by. In 1948, the school enrollment continued to grow until more grades and classrooms were added. There was now an intermediate grade- Grade V and Grade VI, at the same time the name Jose Abad Santos

Elementary School was changed to Union Elementary School due to the unity in purpose, aims, thoughts and vision of our forerunners here in Union which was still Sitio Union. Then, among the former teachers were Abdon Espera and his wife and others and the formers Sitio Officials were the late Meming Boiser, Carlos Boiser and others.
Although Union still remained a sitio, there was a welcome change as passed by our Congress wherein the Barangay Officials were already elected by the Barangay residents, unlike before when the Barangay Officials were appointed by the Municipal Mayor.
In the year 1956, during the tenure of the late Norberto Mendez, as the head of Sitio Union, and the late Vicente Atuel was the Barangay Liutenant (Teniente del barrio) of Tapal,through Councilman Gaudencio Abay-abay, the late Norberto Mendez and Vicente Atuel agreed upon the proposed boundary between Sitio Union and Barangay Tapal, through a geodetic survey as one of the prerequisite in the application for the conversion of Sitio Union into Barangay Union, through the Provincial Board as sanctioned by our National Congress.
Time passed. The relationship between Sitio Union and Barangay Tapal after the agreement of said boundary remained wholesome.
Not long after Capt. Bienvenido Boiser assumed office, the documents of approval for said conversion together with the Barangay Technical Sketch Plan arrived from the Office of the National Economic Council (NEC), Manila declaring among other things that Union was regular Barangay under Municipality of Ubay.
At present, we can see improvements in Barangay Union, new edifices among other things and other projects constructed through the share of Union from the Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) from the National Government. May 7, is remembered as a memorable day for Barangay Union, its Foundation Day marking its separation as a regular Barangay from Barangay Tapal, its mother of Barangay.
Economy
People in the barangay are mostly farmers live by planting rice, camote, cassava, banana, and other vegetables. Some have small lots of agricultural land. A portion of population also weaves mats, produce palm oil and coconut products.Government

The greatest hope and the vision of Barangay Officials of Union, Ubay Bohol is the solution to the (7) greatest problems affecting our Barangay, namely; 1. Drug addiction especially of our youth, 2. Illegal Fishing, 3. Cattle- Rustling, 4. Obsolete Agricultural Facilities, 5. Poor Street Lighting, 6. Inadequate Water Supply and Facilities, 7. Inadequate Medical Assistance.Mission
