U.S. Route 195 is a north–south U.S. Route
serving the southeastern area of Washington. One of the oldest designations in the U.S. Highway system, it was created in the original 1926 plan. The highway passes two major universities, Washington State University
in Pullman
, and the University of Idaho
, which is accessed by using U.S. Route 95.
The southern terminus of US 195 is at U.S. Route 95
north of Lewiston, Idaho
. From there, US 195 travels northwest into Washington and north, passing Pullman, Washington

. This section was replaced fully by US 2 in 1969.

's original route, which was routed along US 195 from the current southern terminus in Idaho
to the current US 195/US 195 Spur intersection and onto the current US 195 Spur. In the mid-1970s, US 95 was rerouted onto a freeway that bypassed the short segment within Washington and old US 95 from US 195's ending to the current US 195/US 195 Spur intersection became US 195 and the rest of the road from US 195 to Idaho became U.S. Route 195 Spur.
