It was named after Alexander Tsiurupa, the former Soviet Trade Minister and the chief of Gosplan

History

  • 1084 Oleshia, medieval port-city, destroyed by the Mongol-Tatars
  • 1711-1728 Oleshky Host was located on territory of modern city
  • 1784 the settlement of Oleshky was established that in 1790 became part of the Kinburn palanka of Black-sea Cossacks.
  • 1802 the settlement obtained the city rights and became the center of the Dnipro uyezd
