The Campionato Nazionale Primavera – Trofeo Giacinto Facchetti, is an Italian
football competition played by youth teams of all Serie A
and all Serie B
clubs, and organized by the Football League
. All players must be under 20, but two overaged are allowed in eliminatory rounds. The first edition was held in the 1962–63 season but at that time there were two champions because Serie A and Serie B teams played in two different tournaments. Since the 1969–70 season they were unified. On December 16, 2006 it was named in memory of former Internazionale
captain and chairman Giacinto Facchetti
. It literally translates to "Spring" National Championship, relating the opening season of the year with the young age of the players.

Players in Primavera League must be under 20 on 1 January of the year that season started. For example, in 2009–10 season, players be must born on or after 1 January 1990, while the overage players must be born on or after 1 January 1989.

Format
The 42 teams are initially divided into three groups of 14 teams each. After the regular season, 16 teams in total qualify for the play-off stage, on home and away basis. The eight best teams qualify for the Final Eight on a neutral venue. The winners are eligible for the Supercoppa PrimaveraSupercoppa Primavera
